This choreography has developed out of a ten-week course in contemporary dance technique and creative movement. The starting point for this course was a metronome (a device to mark time) and the concept of time. Movement material has been manipulated in response to time, and time has played a part in creating the choreography. This unique work has been choreographed by Ruth Tyson-Jones and the participants.

As the first year for the new Centre for Advanced Training Scheme in Dance draws to a close, this celebratory evening will showcase the CAT students as they perform work choreographed by leading professionals.

It’s love at first dance when young Romeo Montague tricks his way into the lavish masked ball of the Capulet family. The Capulets and Montagues are sworn enemies and the passion between Romeo and the beautiful Juliet Capulet is quickly forbidden. Boldly forgoing the approval of their families, the young lovers play by their own rules and soon their dangerous seduction is filled with secrets, as the star-crossed pair hatch a perilous plot. Can Romeo and Juliet play tricks with life and death? Or will death play a final trick on them?

With a sweeping score by Sergei Prokofiev and soaring choreography from the master of modern ballet, Kenneth MacMillan, Romeo and Juliet continues to be the all-time classic love story.

Britain’s national contemporary dance company returns to its partner venue with a brand new programme of imaginative, ambitious and high quality dance.

This autumn, Rambert is delighted to première its exciting new work Awakenings. A collaboration between theatrical choreographer Aletta Collins and celebrated American composer Tobias Picker, this is the first dance interpretation of Oliver Sacks’ book of the same name, made famous by the 1990 Hollywood film starring Robin Williams and Robert De Niro. Awakenings is a beautiful piece of dance full of high emotion, energy and drama.

Christopher Bruce’s award-winning and uplifting Hush and Merce Cunningham’s RainForest complete the bill.

With 22 of the world’s finest dancers and incredible live music from the Rambert Orchestra, the company continues to be at the very heart of British dance.

Bharatanatyam, a timeless form of Indian dance, takes audiences on a musical and dramatic journey while portraying a range of emotions and fascinating stories.

Shijith and Parvathy Nambiar are amongst India’s finest young stars of the dance form and widely tipped for international fame. They present a contemporary view of three episodes from the Indian literary epics: Tamil, Sanskrit and Telugu. The choreography and music expresses the beauty of Sringara (love) as told through the stories of Rama and Sita, Shiva and Parvathi and Krishna and Rukmini.
