Come Dancing is written by and stars the former frontman of The Kinks, Ray Davies, who penned some of the greatest songs in pop history. The show takes us back to the Palais Ballrooms of the 1950s, where thousands would dance and romance at a time when rock ’n’ roll was bursting onto the scene. Featuring impressive dance routines and a heart warming tale of teenage romance, the story is full of classic hits and wonderful new songs in a show as timeless as its star.

Davies has always been known for his ability to tell stories with his music, and this unforgettable musical is no different. Come Dancing is as moving as it is rocking!

Andrew Bovell's Speaking In Tongues centres on brooding detective Leon Zat, who becomes embroiled in an intruiging and complex investigation.
Nine parallel lives, four infidelities, one missing person and a mysterious stiletto are interwoven through a fragmented series of confessionals, interrogations and split-screen scenes. As these strands are drawn together by Zat, the story goes beyond a whodunnit, examining the issues of betrayal, commitment, loss of trust and the ripple effect of actions on the remotest of strangers.
John Simm, who plays Zat in Speaking In Tongues, is a hugely popular, award-winning screen actor whose television work includes The Lakes, Clocking Off, Sex Traffic, State Of Play, Life On Mars and Dr Who, as well as the films Human Traffic and 24-Hour Party People. After a long absence from the stage, Simm returned in 2007 in Elling at Trafalgar Studios, for which he was nominated for a Laurence Olivier Award.
Simm is joined in Speaking In Tongues by Ian Hart (Backbeat, Harry Potter And The Philosopher's Stone) and Kerry Fox (Shallow Grave, Welcome To Sarajevo). They are directed by Toby Frow, who previously directed Bovell's Ship Of Fools at Theatre503.
Playwright Bovell's other work for the stage includes When The Rain Stops Falling, recently seen at the Almeida theatre, while his screen work includes the hit Australian film Strictly Ballroom, which he co-wrote with Baz Luhrmann, and Lantana, the screen adaptation of Speaking In Tongues, which starred Anthony LaPaglia, Barbara Hershey and Geoffrey Rush in 2001.

In a dusty church hall, ex-professional dancer Mavis Turner holds her weekly tap class. Every Thursday, in stumbles her well-intentioned but not overly talented troupe – the awkward but hugely enthusiastic Lynne, snooty Vera, streetwise Maxine and the rest of the group – all brought together to dance as if no one is watching, and hopefully no-one ever will!

That’s until they’re invited to perform at a charity gala. As disbelief is replaced by sheer terror, can this bunch of amateurs pull together and put on the performance of a lifetime?

Starring Jessie Wallace, who won the nation’s hearts as the vivacious Kat Slater in EastEnders, Brian Capron, known to millions for his award-winning portrayal of the sinister Richard Hillman in Coronation Street, and Olivier Award-nominated West End star Rosemary Ashe, this hilariously funny and heart-warming play proves that, in dancing as in life, it’s always better to follow your own tune.
