Hans Christian Andersen is one of the best-known and most popular authors of fairy tales. His fairy tales of the Princess and the Pea, the Ugly Duckling, the Tinderbox, the Little Mermaid and the Snow Queen have found a place in the hearts of children and adults alike. They have also been frequently reworked in the theatre and in film. The Snow Queen is a jewel of this genre not only owing to Andersen’s masterly narration, but also because of the message encoded within it. Kaj is struck in the eye by a shard from the Snow Queen’s mirror and his view of the world is transformed. The Snow Queen takes him away to her kingdom, but his loyal friend Gerda is determined to seek him out. She must overcome many an obstacle on her way to Kaj, but her good heart and the desire to see her faithful friend Kaj give her great strength. In the end, she frees Kaj from the power of the Snow Queen. Hans Christian Andersen, a famous author who suffered and struggled on the road to success and recognition, still wins the hearts of big and small readers the world over.
Charles Dance stars in this first major revival of the acclaimed Shadowlands by William Nicholson. After playing to great acclaim at the Wyndham's Theatre, this highly successful production transfers to the Novello Theatre on 21st Dcember. Shadowlands charts the extraordinary true love story between C.S. Lewis and Joy Gresham, played by award-winning actress Janie Dee. Famous in his day as a scholar and a broadcaster, he is perhaps best known today as the author of the classic books The Chronicles of Narnia. A confirmed bachelor into his fifties, he met and married this remarkable American woman, known for her outspoken views and acerbic wit, and their astonishing story has become a testament to the unpredictable nature of love and its enduring legacy.
Ring Round The Moon is set at a glamorous society ball in 1950’s France.
Identical twins, a spoilt millionairess, a mysterious ballet dancer and a wily old Aunt are swept up in a dazzling dance where caution and convention are thrown to the wind.
Witty, charming and madcap, this is an enchanting comedy of mistaken identity, romance, money and moonlight.
