HENRY Goodman will reprise the role of Tevye in Sheffield Theatre’s production of Fiddler on the Roof which opens at London’s Savoy Theatre on May 29, 2007 (previews from May 19) – for a limited season.
Based on the stories of Russian author Sholem Aleichem, Fiddler on the Roof is set in Tsarist Russia in 1905, and tells the story of Tevye, a dairyman and old-fashioned father who dreams of seeing his daughters married in the traditional Jewish manner. However, revolution is in the air and the young follow their hearts and not the advice of their fathers….
Fiddler on the Roof has a book by Joseph Stein, choreography by Jerome Robbins, music and lyrics by Jerry Bock and Sheldon Harnick, and features songs such as Tradition, Matchmaker, Matchmaker and If I Were a Rich Man.

On the 6th of July the Tour De France cycle teams will be introduced to the public and World Media on Trafalgar Square. The Strand west of Lancaster Place / Waterloo Bridge will be closed and all roads in and out of Trafalgar Square from 12 (noon) Friday. Major closures throughout Saturday 7th until late into the evening. Sunday 8th the start of the roll out of the tour is in the morning with an aim to reopen all Westminster roads by early / mid afternoon. Please make patrons aware that there will be disruption in this area regarding transportation and extra time should be made to arrive at the Theatre.
