The History
Medieval Times Celebrates its 25-year reign in North America. Medieval Times founders first launched their unique idea for a dinner attraction on the Spanish island of Majorca in 1973. This imaginative new entertainment spot was inspired by the true medieval tradition of royal families inviting guests to a festival and feast to watch Knights compete on horseback.
During the early years in Spain, the shows authentic display of classic equestrian skills and medieval pageantry took place in outdoor arenas, a far cry from the climate-controlled castles of today. There, the conventions of todays shows were established. Guests were seated in sections named for regions of Medieval Spain and encouraged to cheer for the Knight representing their region.
As Medieval Times has grown in popularity both in Spain and North America, some things havent changed. Like our commitment to the accuracy of weapons and costumes. Others have. The characters and storyline of our show evolve every few years, making sure it stays fresh and exciting for generations to come.
Please arrive 30 minutes prior to show time.
This dinner show transports guests back 900 years when valiant knights jousted and performed daring feats to entertain the lords and ladies of the court.
Every show has pageantry, medieval costumed characters, beautiful Andulasian horses, remarkable displays of horseback riding, tournament games of skill, sword fighting and jousting and an exciting battle between knights until the champion is declared.
Medieval Times has a working village, called “Medieval Life”, which employs skilled artisans who practise crafts such as carpentry, pottery and weaving.
Open between 4pm & show time. Medieval life also has a museum, which is the Dungeon. The dungeon is filled with artefacts from the dark side of medieval life, including devices used for punishment, torture and death.
